The latest offering from the John Lasseter-inspired Disney Pixar studio is set for release in 2011.Disney Cars 2 is the follow up to the highly successful Cars movie of five years ago and continues the adventures of speed merchant Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson) and his friend Mater (Larry the Cable Guy).
The Disney Cars 2 sequel sees the pair head to Europe and Japan to take part in the very first World Grand Prix; the race to discover just who is the fastest car on the planet. Unfortunately, things do not always follow a smooth path as Mater discovers when he becomes involved in international espionage alongside undercover British car, Finn McMissile, voiced by the veteran British acting legend, Michael Caine. Most of your favourite Disney Cars characters are back, including some new ones.
The action in Disney Cars 2 takes place in a number of different countries as Lightning battles to become the World Grand Prix champion and Mater has to balance helping his friend achieve his dream, with his new role as the world’s most unlikely undercover spy. Disney Cars 2 will be released in several 3D formats, including Disney Digital 3D, IMAX 3D and RealD 3D as well as traditional 2D format for standard cinemas.
